Tonfas

The tonfa can be used for blocking and striking. The tonfa is great for developing strong wrists and hands, which is important for striking and blocking. The tonfa measures about three centimeters past the elbow when gripped.

The simple tonfa, originally a handle used to rotate a gristmill, has been overshadowed by some flashier Okinawan weapons, but it's every bit as effective and deadly as any other component of the makeshift armament of the Ryukyu.

Wielded in pairs, tonfas are traditionally made from wood and though they may appear simple in construction, tonfas are an effective offensive and defensive weapon.

We offer a wide selection of tonfas suitable for both practice and competition. Our ProForce® tonfas are crafted of high-quality, durable wood and will stand up to a lifetime of use. Aside from traditional wooden tonfas, we also carry foam-covered tonfas and some styles made from polypropelene plastic, which are great for beginners and training. We also have other melee weapons, such as a combat cane. Shop our styles now, with options starting as low as $24.95.
